The Interchangeable System

I received an email from a mom a week ago saying she just found out that the entire BornFree line is interchangeable. It’s true! The Trainer Cup spouts, Drinking Cup spouts, and bottles spouts can all be used with each alternate bases. This helps to ease babies and toddlers easily from one stage to the next.

Let’s say your toddler is ready to move on to the Trainer Cups (for 6-12 months of age) from the 9oz bottles. You can give your little one a Trainer Cup Spout with a bottle base so that can experience a sense of familiarity.

I’ve taken some photos to illustrate this. I hope you enjoy them! More photos coming.

I love how bornfree is so organized and well thought out.

    hi there,
we love the interchangeability of the bornfree system. hooray for not having to repurchase items at each stage! let’s hear it for repurposing!

BUT, having said that we are struggling currently a little … maybe someone out there can offer some help?

    * DD is 16mo. old, and has been drinking from the BF trainer cups since 6-7mo. she is totally happy with them … we use the soft spout and the 2-part vent system.

    * here’s the problem: we also bought the hard spouts for her next step, and they are marked 9mo., but she has little interest in them at all! and they leak, drip all over the place – there is nothing to stop the flow of the liquid in the cup like the soft spouts … i am obviously missing something here.

    * so, i just read online that the “drinking cups” come with a hard-spout like we have and a “low-vacuum valve” … maybe this is a different piece than the 2-part ventilation system that came with all the rest of the system? ?? do i need to buy these and insert them to make the hard spout not allow the liquid to come pouring out? and maybe DD will like them?

this won’t make sense to anyone not really familiar with all this … and i know it’s detailed, but we are in a quandary.

(and really, anyway, does it matter if DD transitions to the hard spout? can she just go from these soft spout training cups to drinking from a cup later? or?)

    thanks for any help!

    Hi Melinda,

The Drinking Cup is based on a “free flow” system which prevents vacuum build-up. This can reduce middle ear infections. It isn’t leaking- we’ve designed them like this for the health of children. If your child is more comfortable using the Trainer Cup, keep using it.

There’s no special piece that goes with the Drinking Cup.

Happy baby = happy mommy! Thanks for being a customer.
